Another week down! We are now one week closer to the end of the 23-24 school year, there is now only five weeks left! Starting on Monday, April 15, (the day highlighted in red on the attached calendar) there will only be 24 school days left in this school year; the last day for ALL STUDENTS is Thursday, May 16. This doesn't apply to the LHS Class of 2024, they only have 19 school days left, the last day for CURRENT LHS SENIORS is Thursday, May 9. We are all in the final stretch! Let's finish strong, USD 480!
Today was Spring Signing Day at Liberal High School! Surrounded by their current and former coaches, teachers, teammates, classmates, community members, friends, and most importantly, their families, 11 LHS student-athletes signed their letters of intent to continue their academic and athletic careers at a post-secondary institution. Collectively, these 11 were the largest single group to sign all at once in LHS history. We are so proud of their accomplishments and can't wait to watch them continue to represent Liberal throughout the next chapter of their academic journey. Join us in celebrating these 11 LHS student-athletes!

At tonight's BOE Meeting we celebrated the USD 480 Educator of the Month for March, Meadowlark Interventionist, Mrs. Classen! She is very knowledgeable in what she does and teachers recognize this by frequently seeking her out for support, resources, and strategies. She is well-informed and keeps teachers up-to-date on anything they need to know to be able to provide services to students. With her kind attitude, willingness to provide support, and constant encouragement she is a tremendous asset to everyone at Meadowlark. Mrs. Classen steps in and does all the small things that make a huge impact on them personally, such as assisting with school family activities, helping with lesson plans when a teacher is absent, to escorting students to class, she does it all at Meadowlark! Every school needs a Mrs. Classen and we are so thankful she continues to work at Meadowlark and at USD 480!

This week was Assistant Principal Week and we are so fortunate to have some stellar individuals in that key position throughout the district. In the moments of chaos spring can often bring, we are glad to have these people there to provide support for our principals and staff in the various capacities they serve their school!
Thank you, USD 480 Assistant Principals!

Happy School Librarian Day to our dedicated librarians across the district. They do so much for our students and often cover more than one school. They provide so much additional support and activities that keep our students learning and engaged outside of the classroom. They make learning a fun and exciting experience. We are so thankful for all of our USD 480 Librarians!
Happy Paraprofessional Day to one of the largest groups in the district! They are a large group, but their impact on our students is even greater! All the things they do and relationships they build with our students is immeasurable! Thank you, to all of our USD 480 Paras!

Happy School Bus Aide Appreciation Day to these fine folks! These people do so much to assist our bus drivers and students, some even fill in as drivers after taking the opportunity to get their CDL and endorsement. We are SO THANKFUL for all of them and all they do!
"Our bus aides are very important for achieving our student attendance and learning goals. They make students feel welcome and cared for as they go to school and return home, which prepares and excites students to learn. They are the first and last smiling face students see every day from USD 480."
- Dr. Todd Carter, USD 480 Superintendent

"Our Specialized Student Services staff provide an additional level of individual support for students and families so students can be successful. The USD 480 choir students are ready for tonight! Each group was able to spend time today practicing on the big stage. In addition to their final practice, each group was fortunate enough to be joined by Dr. Longhurst, a vocal clinician from Northwestern Oklahoma State University. He worked with each of the district choirs throughout the day, giving them feedback and preparing them for tonight's performance. Come out and support all of the hard work these students have put in all year! Show starts at 7:00 p.m. at the James Maskus Auditorium!
