Southern Pioneer Demntrates Power

On Wednesday afternoon, October 30, the fourth and fifth graders at MacArthur Elementary received a fantastic presentation from the Southern Pioneer staff. After discussing the importance of avoiding downed lines, they demonstrated their danger.

The first demonstration involved exposing their “dummy” to high voltage. Fire shot out of his head. Next, they gave the dummy a hot dog and a lemon. Of course, these items burst into flames, too.

Tolan Seger told us “It’s really important for our company that people understand the risks associated with electric power lines and that they know how to stay safe around them.” He added, “It’s always good to get public awareness when it comes to electric power lines. To make sure they understand the safety of it.”

HUGS is "Helping Us Give To Society." To find information about safety on their website, visit https://www.southernpioneer.net/resources/safety/

Ryan Delay, Mathew Pearson, Ruby Terrazas, and Cayden Stubbs were other Southern Pioneer workers involved in the demonstration.

Thank you, Southern Pioneer, for giving our students a vivid learning experience.
